Latest news from the Digital marketing, Social media and Online video industries
We will take a look at couple of examples of best of viral videos and marketing videos this week.
The best among the viral videos this week has to be the latest one from PES:
Following on from their stop-motion hit Western Spaghetti,
PES comes up with yet another short film called 'Fresh Guacamole'. It's crazy, clever and unbelievably well-made
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FQMO6vjmkyI
They have used regular items like Poker chips, casino balls and dice to make the 'Fresh Guacamole' as they call it. This can be so brilliantly used for online poker sites to put an in stream video ad on!
Moving on to branded videos on YouTube-
Guardian has come up with awesome videos ads off late which share serious aspects of hard hitting journalism with just a tad bit of playfulness which represents the esteemed media brand so well. Our favourite has to be The Three Little Pigs:

Brand new YouTube features to increase efficiency of your video viewing experience:
For once we have a real update to a service to talk about rather than just another press release filler-
YouTube has released three major updates to enhance the video viewing experience, which let you have a sneak peak thumbnail of a point ahead on the video when you hover on the bar at that point. Also, you can go back to a visual you want to watch from as the entire video is accessible through thumbnail image of each frame. If you drag the mouse pointer along the bar, you will see the video as a series of thumbnails in succession enabling you to be able to view the video right from the point you want rather than sitting through the entire video.
Although the feature would be rolled out to all videos eventually, it is available on most videos with high views.
Also according to YouTube's recent announcement your recommended videos would be based on time spent watching as against purely number of clicks based algorithm used to power related & recommended videos algorithm. Both the in-video and algorithm updates will ensure enhanced viewer engagement. Watch this space for an update from YouTube press centres about viewership data post the updates.

According to the recent survey from Doremus, a multinational business communications company and Financial Times digital media consumption seems to be on increase among senior executives in globally.
Though traditional media consumption figures haven't deteriorated in the target group, various social and digital media sources feature in the mix too for work-related purposes.
Here are some findings in nutshell:
76% watch online video.
71% view webcasts.
65% use professional networking sites such as LinkedIn and Plaxo.
63% read blogs.
According to the January report released for the UK market by comScore, the most preferred digital marketing intelligence provider in the world -- the social video penetration figures are 64% of the total population for the UK! This translates to 6 out of 10 of us Brits watch online video fairly regularly.
Google, Vevo and Facebook being the top 3 online video properties for the UK, followed by -- not s- surprisingly -- the BBC sites.
The viewership percentage is largely uniform across all age groups ranging from 15+ to 55+ years.
However, the gender rift is quite evident from the report -- a typical British male is thrice as likely to watch an online video as a typical British female.

One of the best things you can do to grow your audience on YouTube is to seed your videos by reaching out to other influencers in your niche. This doesn't just mean spamming people with your video content, but instead involves forming partnerships and relationships with these influencers by offering content that's valuable to them in a way that benefits their audience. For this week's Creator's Tip episode Tim Schmoyer and Kevin Nalty talk...
Video Marketing is a powerful online marketing tool to drive massive traffic to your website and convert that traffic into leads, prospects, customers and clients. Today people are spending more time on the internet sourcing for information, leisure and business purposes. There are as many as 3 billion views of videos on YouTube daily. But you need to make sure you stay away from all the current video marketing myths!
With the sharks and charlatans out there, it's difficult to know what works and what is going to get you banned. So we have put together 6 points that you must obey in order to get rankings, leads, sales and results when using video in your business.
So here are 6 Myths and some top tips for online video:
1) Drags and Pauses When a video comes to an end on YouTube, you might notice a bunch of related videos show up. It's YouTube's way of keeping you watching videos (and they earn they money from the ads they show you). Now, some people think that to combat this problem, they should add in some dead time or a drag at the end of the video which will mean the video plays for longer at the end and no related videos will show. Don't do that! You see, YouTube don't like it and are banning these videos but also, it'll increase your time on your videos and that's the number one thing people will look at. Too long and they'll leave... not good. So some other people have suggested pauses at the end of the video. In the annotation section, you can add in a pause. Do this and it'll mean you can stop the video at the end (with no additional video time) and nobody can see the related video until the pause ends (but you get to decide how long that is). Again, don't do this. You will jeopardize your rankings. - we've seen it happen on our own videos and client videos.
2) Tag Ripping Not a good idea. Some people will just copy the best videos and steal their tags of their videos and hope they'll get the same ranking. First off, this doesn't work. YouTube are more savvy than you might think! But also, you'll only ever going to do as well as that other video. You'll rarely beat them and they might not know what they are doing. Not a good idea. Instead, use clustered keywords and that's the best method for ranking your videos.
3) Just have 1 channel? Just one channel will not provide the best return on your time and financial investment. You see, your channel is very important, but you can grow by adding more channels and relevant channels. If you have multiple channels that provide value for your viewers then you will be getting maximum exposure. Plus, when you have more channels building authority, you can start to get some incredible results.
4) 3 minutes in length is best. No it's not! We've tested things over and over and you'll get your best result by keeping your videos concise and try to keep them to 90 seconds or so. Get rid of all the waffle and keep the content value-rich.
5) Socks and Cartoon Videos Well, for business this simple will not work. You wan tto be building respect, authority, credibility and if you start using socks, puppets, cartoons or anything esle you're going to be really damaging your brand. 1 video like this and it'll destroy what you've been building for years. Just don't do it. You might be nervous, anxious, worried or you might even think you're not "pretty enough". Look, it's not about being perfect, it's about being a human being and showing yourself to be someone that your viewers can get to know, like and trust.
6) Fiverr, Traffic Geyser, TubeMogul Okay, here is a strategy that used to work. Create a video and then distribute it to as many places as possible to see if you can get more views. Whilst it used to work (kinda), YouTube and Google have been cracking down on duplicate content, hence you may have seen lots of people's accounts being frozen. It's all in the panda update. Fiverr - it has been used many times and taught as a great place to get backlinks. Whilst YouTube are still allowing videos to rank despite the spamming backlinks, be sure that they will come and find you. All that effort to creating the video and then it's just taken down for spamming it with backlinks? It'll become a huge problem in future. Anyway, you can use many other more powerful strategies to REALLY get results from video marketing.

We all know it's important that we upload video content on a regular basis because it helps us build momentum, increases our videos' ranking in search, and keeps our audience engaged. But sometimes keeping up with a regular schedule is just too difficult because our content requires high production value that's unreasonable to pull off on a weekly basis. Other times it's just because we don't have any more ideas for video content. In this...
Google+ YouTube Integration: I Just discovered this morning (thanks to @VideoLeadsOnline) that you can now more easily share your own youtube videos on Google+. They still have not implemented automatically notifying people on Google+ of your YouTube videos (which is beyond me why you can autoshare on Orkut, but not Google+... anyway).. This is a step in the right direction and we hope to see more.
"YouTube SEO" - In this video we discuss YouTube SEO and Video Optimization -- how to optimise your YouTube videos and your YouTube channel. You can expect to get a lot of traffic from YouTube and Google is you optimise correctly and what I want to do in this video is show you my 5 Step Formula I use whenever I create a video to enable me to get a lot more views, to be shared and "go viral" and also get a lot more traffic back to my website.
The 2nd step is about creating real high-quality CONTENT. So what you're creating your videos think about your best and most valuable tips that you can give to people because you're much more likely to be shared then. Video is much more likely to go viral as people share video and as a result if you can share some awesome tips on what you're discussing, people will share it with people they know and as a result you start getting a lot more traffic as well. So this is another great tip -- make sure the quality of the content is always top notch.
Next, make sure you're always building your COMMUNITY. The more subscribers and friends you have on YouTube, the better your YouTube Channel will be ranked. YouTube and Google are really looking for this and when your YouTube Channel page rank goes up, all of your video rankings will go up too. This means you can create just one subsequent video, optimise it just for the keywords and you're immediately get straight to the top of YouTube as YouTube will get to trust you for the high quality content and that's what they are looking for. YouTube are not necessarily looking for the longevity of anyone's content, they are looking for fresh content. And this is what's really useful for you and I -- when we create a video we can expect to be on the first page of Google and YouTube (see the proof), especially when we've targeted the keywords correctly. That's really important -- always make sure you're building your community.
Next... BACK LINKS. Now, we're talking about "do follow" back links and this is where we get other websites to embed our videos or talk about you and create content that links back to our 'stuff'. If you can get the anchor text (the words within the copy that are active links back to our information), to be our keywords and linked back to your VIDEO... Something that people rarely do -- if you can get those back links back to your channel or video, that's going to be really helpful for your Channel page rank and again your videos will go up the search page rankings again -- both on the first page of Google and the first page of YouTube. Really clever, powerful and a little sneaky! So make sure you implement that tactic!
Final step? REGULAR videos. A lot of people think, "Well if I create a load of videos all on 1 day and upload them all on 1 day that will be great!" - this is not a good strategy. What you want to do instead is leak it out over time -- instead of releasing your videos all on one day, just make sure you release one video one day and another video the next day and keep it regular. The reason being is because YouTube look at you as a Channel. Your viewers are actual people (yes, I know!) and people don't want loads of content all on 1 day -- you want to be trickling it out on a regular basis because this is what's going to be much more enjoyable and much more engaging for your viewers.
So, that's the 5 strategies -- make sure you've got your KEYWORDS sorted, make sure you're creating quality CONTENT, make sure you're constantly building your COMMUNITY, getting BACK LINKS and bringing out REGULAR content. These are 5 tips that are really useful for you if you're looking to create videos that go straight to the top of YouTube and Google. This will definitely help you get a lot more views, get a lot more traffic and as a result become a lot more successful.

You've been blogging your fingers off for a few years now, and despite the ego rush of watching your hits soar, you're wondering what's the point—or, rather, how do I make some cold hard cash from this thing?
A blog Dedication A good PageRank
Step 1: Focus your blog
Focus your blog. Blogs that make money are blogs with a specific market and a good PageRank. Be passionate about your subject and generate as much traffic as you can. If you're obsessed, others will be as well.
Tip: Don't expect to get rich from your blog. At least not right away. Some popular blogs report more than $40,000 dollars a month in earnings—but unless you've got millions of visitors already, don't expect to quit your day job anytime soon.
Step 2: Sell advertising
Selling advertising is the top moneymaking method with a blog. AdSense, a service from Google, will place relevant ads from advertisers on your blog. If your reader clicks on the link, you get paid. Exactly how much depends on your traffic.
Tip: The upside to this method is that it's very easy; the downside is that you don't choose who advertises or what you get paid.
Step 3: Choose the ads yourself
Some ad-providers, like blogads.com, help you choose the advertiser's you want and give you the right to set the price.
Tip: The upside to this method is that you're in control; the downside is if you set the prices too high or are too picky about advertisers, you won't make any money.
Step 4: Write a review
Get paid to write a product review that relates to your blog's topic. Sites like payperpost.com will match you with a product. Reviews are usually short and don't have to be positive, but you will have to disclose you're getting paid.
Tip: Stay credible—be honest, and don't post too many paid reviews. If you look like a marketing shill, you'll lose readers—and money.
Step 5: Sell merchandise
Sell merchandise. Suppose your blog has a really cool logo or you've developed some catchphrase that has caught on—put it on a t-shirt or coffee cup. A bunch of sites will do this for you, including cafepress.com. They earn the base price, and you earn the mark up.
Step 6: Get an affiliate program
Get an affiliate program. Probably the most popular of these is amazon.com. This works by having a specific product advertised on your blog, and if readers follow your link and buy it, you get a percentage of the sale.
Tip: Affiliate programs are the better routes for newer blogs to make money, since it won't be so crucial to have thousands upon thousands of clicks before you get a check.
Step 7: Make money indirectly
Make money indirectly from your blog. Many bloggers find they can earn money from their blog because it steers customers to a service they provide or to a product they're selling. Think of it as an ad for you!
Step 8: Beg
Beg. There are a few sites like paypal.com that can put a "donation" button on your blog. You're blogging your heart out—why not ask your audience to toss a coin into your hat?
